Britain is a SECULAR state! Don't make me laugh!
So yesterday, being Easter Sunday, I took part in my annual Easter tradition of spending 15 minutes in the car park of my local big shopping centre.
It always gives me a good laugh to watch the streams of cars and people arrive at the front door of the two major supermarkets on the estate and then scratch their heads in amazement when they find them closed.
"Sorry, its closed" I said to one Muslim woman. "Its Easter Sunday and in case you have forgotten, Britain is still a Christian country". I'm not sure her English was good enough understand me, but the very old English guy certainly did.
"Of course its closed mate" I said to him. "Its Easter Sunday, shops are legally required to be closed on Easter Sunday".
"Really?" He said "Well how long has that been going on then?" Well, perhaps he has not lived in the UK much. However, I have lived here all my life and I've always known that.
No one expects big shops to be open on Christmas Day, but in this day and age, they are still amazed to find them closed on Easter Sunday as well. After all, Easter Sunday is a far bigger day in the Christian calendar.
While enjoying this 15 minutes of amusement, I was reminded of an online spat I'd recently had with a thick as shit lefty twat (and all lefties are thick as shit these days), who was most insistent that 'Britain is a SECULAR country where religion hardly plays a role anymore.
Really mate? Ever stood outside mosque on a Friday lunchtime? Ever tried to buy a takeaway that is NOT halal?
But despite the appearance in most of our big cities, Britain still remains, legally speaking one of these most CHRISTIAN countries on Earth. And here is why.
- The Head of State (King Charles) is also head of the State Religion (Christianity)
- All MP's and members of the House of Lords religious or not, take an Oath of Allegiance to King Charles, who is Head of the Church of England.
- Every daily session of both houses of the British Parliament start with Christian prayers and even non-religious MPs and Lords have to attend them in order to ensure they have a seat in the chamber.
- The All Party Parliamentary Christian group is one of the most powerful lobby groups in Parliament.
- There are 26 Church of England Bishops sitting in the house of Lords by right making laws.
- At local council level, almost every council meeting starts with Christian prayers.
- Again, Christians make up the vast majority of local Councillors, who will vote on policies according to their religion, rather than their party lines.
- Judges, certain court offices, members of the military, naturalized British Citizens and even Scouts and Guides, swear an oath or allegiance to either God and The King, or in the case of the non-religious to just The King, who is of course, Head of the Church of England.
- The vast majority of Faith Schools in the UK are Christian and as such, they can legally exclude non-Christian pupils or LEGALLY refuse to employ non-Christian teachers, or any member of staff who does not conform to their beliefs.
- The Religious Education (RE) curriculum in ALL schools in England and Wales is set by local Standing Advisory Committees on Religious Education (SACREs) and these are all Christian dominated.
So, the next time someone tells you that Britain is no longer a Christian country, just show them this list.
